Materials: Digitally altered photos, tempera
I needed a portrait lesson that would appeal to the interests of an unusual make-up of students and chose the art movement Pop Art. I spent one class period taking their photos, then altered them to line drawings. They were to paint them with tempera using different colors on each one, then combine into a larger artwork. Some students discovered that if they painted too much they lost details and had to start over. We spent 2 50 minute class periods painting these.
