I wanted to work on facial features and proportion with my middle school students, but with 17 boys and 2 girls I needed something that would grab all of their attention. I had found an obscure story about grots (similiar to gargoyles) and decided to have them create their own grot. We sponge painted them to look like stone and glued flat marbles on for eyes.
