Materials: 12x18" white paper, 3"x18" colored paper for frame, markers, crayons, tempera, stamps
This
lesson reviews what students learned in second grade, yet adds the
element of learning about Surrealism. We looked at "Carnival", and drew
some of the characters in the painting. We did rubbings for a textured
background after coloring our figures with markers. I cut 12x18" sheets
of colored paper into strips 3"x18", which we glued to our drawings for
frames. For our stamps, I purchased some abstract stamps from an art
catalog, some I found at Wal-Mart, and others I made. We stamped these
onto the frame using tempera.
