Vocabulary Words: Camoflauge, pattern

Materials: 12x18" white paper, sharpie, crayons, "Chameleons Are Cool" by Martin Jenkins

This is a great lesson to leave for substitutes. I shared the book "Chameleons are Cool" with my class. We looked at the patterns and textures on the chameleons before drawing our own. Students then colored their chameleons with crayons, creating patterns. The next day they were instructed to create a background in which their chameleon was camoflauged.
