
Vocabulary Words: Shape, texture (fur), overlap
Materials: 12x18" white paper, blue, black, red, and brown crayon
The drawing on the left is a student's, while the one on the right is
mine to show how well my kinders are doing at drawing shapes. I break
this down by drawing googly eyes (you know what this means if you've
ever watched Sesame Street!), overlapping the two circles. Overlap a
large oval for the head, an oval body, triangle arms, and rectangle
legs. I have them draw the entire picture with blue crayons, then add
jagged edges to simulate fur. Their original line disappears when they
color him in. There are alot of cookie songs that I sing with the
students to jazz up the lesson.
