Vocabulary Words: Shape, Overlap, Texture

Materials: Blue paper cut in the following sizes: 9" square, 9x12", 5x7" (2 per student), 4x18"; 7" square pink paper, 3x6" white paper, 4" square brown paper, scissors, glue

This moveable collage is one of my favorite lessons. Even though it is step by step and all the paper is cut to size, they all end up looking very unique. I have them round off the corners of the 9" blue paper and the 7" pink paper to make circles. Glue the pink onto the blue and fold with the pink on the inside. Fold the white paper in 1/2, round off the corners, and glue down on the straight edge, overlapping each other. I have them draw the black centers with sharpies. Glue the 4x18" strip to the back, fold the arms over, and cut triangles from the ends to simulate fur. Round off 1 corner of the 5x7 blue paper and glue on for feet. Add a cookie and watch him eat!
