This fourth grade
project teaches the students the center of interest in a seemingly
simple manner. I usually walk into the classroom, hang my sample
artwork on the board, and ask them what catches their eye. When they
say the center star, we discuss why that star is the focal point of the
artwork (answer: it is larger, it is glittered, ribbons lead your eye,
centered, etc). Then I have them draw a star in the center. Draw lines
from the star, draw smaller stars in between, color, paint, and
glitter. This project is somewhat plain, but I have always found it
works extremely well in teaching these concepts.
