I wanted to do a
project that focused on positive interactions between my 4th grade
students. I started by distributing slips of paper to each student,
having them write their name at the top in bold. I then instructed them
that we were going to pass the slips around the room, and they were to
write one word that described the person who's name was at the top of
the paper. NO negative words were allowed. I allowed them about 20
seconds per slip of paper. The slips were returned to their owners, and
we began drawing our self-portrait. In the background students chose
one of the descriptive words about themselves to draw in bubble
letters. We painted these in primary colors in the style of Roy
Lichtenstein, and they turned out awesome!
