Materials: 12x18" white paper, 9x12" black paper, watercolors, rulers, sharpies, manikins

We began by discussing perspective, then drew a square in the center of our paper. I had the students measure 2" from the top and 2 sides, and 8" from the bottom to draw this square. I showed them how to place a vanishing point in their square. We watercolored our paper, then moved on to the manikins. I have 4 of these manikins and the students immediately named them "model men". We folded our blakc paper into fourths, and then drew what fit inside each section. Students struggled with the concept of the head not taking up the entire top 1/4, but understood as they moved further into the process. Students cut out the head and torso and discovered they could easily change the pose of their own model man by moving the arms and legs around.
