Vocabulary Words: Collage, horizontal, Torn Paper, value, simplified

Materials: 12x18" light blue paper, variety of brown papers, gray paper, glue, scissors

When I first show students an example of what we are going to create, their first reaction is "this is going to be easy!". But surprisingly, creating a background with torn paper in a horizontal pattern proves challenging. After creating their background we create a simplified coyote, then a bandana for him. Patterns on the bandana can be created with markers.
