Tissue Paper Sunflower
Kristie H., 5th Grade

Vocabulary Words: Van Gogh, relief, texture, overlap

Materials: 4" square brown paper, tissue paper in brown, yellow, green (orange optional)

As the sunflower is Kansas' state flower, we make these every year in honor of Kansas' birthday. (It's the 29th). Round off the corners of the brown paper to create a circle, Cut petal shapes out of the yellow tissue, and overlap them to create a layered affect. Tear the brown paper into small pieces and roll between fingers. Glue onto center. Glue on long strips of green. These look great hanging from the ceiling. If desired, add one layer of orange tissue paper before adding the yellow layers.
