Vocabulary Words: Shape, Lines, Collage

Materials: 9x12" white paper, crayons, watercolors, flesh toned paper, scissors, glue, paintbrushes

This project is based upon the artwork "Hand With Bouquet" by Picasso. We discuss who you might give flowers to, then proceed to paint our own. I ask the students to paint a blue circle, then a purple one, then an orange circle,... which allows me to tell if any students still have problems identifying colors or following directions. We paint a green background and allow to dry. With black crayons we proceed to outline our flowers and stems. Trace hand and arm on flesh toned paper, cut out, and glue on, tucking the ends of the fingers underneath to give the appearance of a hand holding a bouquet.
